I watched Serenity (2005) I haven't seen the TV series Firefly that preceded this. This movie was a nice change of the traditional space scifi type film. It had a very deep story and it definitely seems more realistic. However it didn't lack that fiction magic aspect. However throughout the movie I felt as if I was missing information I might have needed to watch the TV show to get. I say, that in a way it is kind of like “Alien” meets “Star Wars” or “The Walking Dead” meets “Star Trek”.

    Firefly for sure adds a lot of depth to the movie. I think it is a good film but I can't even imagine it without the context of the show. There are for sure some very lovable aspects of several characters that simply weren't the focus of the movie but were showcased throughout the show. I appreciate that you still felt the realistic side that really gives meaning to the fantastical elements. If it's your cup of tea and you ever have the time, I would highly recommend watching the show. As a filmmaker I think it's a prime example of well written characters.

I like how descriptive Anne Rice is when she wrote this. She had the boy describe the vampire pulling the curtains back. I, myself was wanting to read more, unable to stop because I could see it clearly in my head. The writer uses such descriptions and similes I feel immersed in the story. While I was reading this story I noticed that there were a lot of similes and metaphors. I thought they contributed nicely with the story I think that the relationship between the vampire and the boy is unique and interesting. The boy throughout the story is recording what the vampire says on a tape recording, to document what the vampire says in the interview. The vampire in the story really goes in depth with the people in its life starting with it's brother and his death and the relationships the vampire had. This week I watched the TV mini Series “The color of Magic” I feel that the color of magic follows the hero’s journey totally. With Rinceweed as the main protagonist. It follows every aspect In fact it was very clear what was wich part. Some examples are. Rincewind is called to adventure with the tourist (Twoflower) that arrives to town. Then refuses but Twoflower magic chest brings him back. The supernatural aid Rincewind receives is the magic sword He is trials when we is called to dual with the people who captured him. And if this movie isn't strong enough, they are fighting upside down. The movie is interesting. This TV mini series, felt like Neverland, a similar magical story, this one involving the origin of Peter Pan.

IN CLASS READING: BLOOD CHILD I was kind of confused reading this. What really stuck with me is that these people could eat an egg and it would prolong their life. What there me off during the reading was the new terminology that was used like Tlic, or T'Gatoi, or Terrann or N'Tlic. Every time I would stop because I don't know if this is slang the writer came up with or if these are terms or names. I didn't make a real significant connection with the story because I am a slow reader and didn't get through all of it. But the one silly connection I made was when the protagonist didn't want to slaughter an animal but he was told to do so. I know, I know, thats weird connection to make. But I've never and never will kill an animal. I don't think I would change anything to adopt this story into another medium. However, I would adapt the idea of changing the gender of the person giving birth to  an intricate sigh show, like Star Trek for example.
